May I Take You To Dinner

John Blanchard stood up from the bench, straightened his Army uniform, and studied the crowd of people making their way through Grand Central Station. He looked for the girl whose heart he knew, but whose face he didn’t, the girl with the rose. His interest in her had begun thirteen months before in a Florida library. Taking a book off the shelf he found himself intrigued, not with the words of the book, but with the notes penciled in the margin. The soft handwriting reflected a thoughtful soul and insightful mind.

In front of the book, he discovered the previous owner’s name, Miss Hollis Maynell. With time and effort he located her address. She lived in New York City. He wrote her a letter introducing himself and inviting her to correspond. The next day he was shipped overseas for service in World War II

During the next year and one-month the two grew to know each other through the mail. Each letter was a seed falling on a fertile heart. A Romance was budding. Blanchard requested a photograph, but she refused. She felt that if he really cared, it wouldn’t matter what she looked like.

When the day finally came for him to return from Europe, they scheduled their first meeting – 7:00 pm at Grand Central Station in New York.

“You’ll recognize me, ” she wrote, “by the red rose I’ll be wearing on my lapel.” So at 7:00 he was in the station looking for a girl whose heart he loved, but whose face he’d never seen.

I’ll let Mr. Blanchard tell you what happened: A young women was coming toward me, her figure long and slim. Her blonde hair lay back in curls from her delicate ears; her eyes were blue as flowers. Her lips and chin had a gentle firmness, and in her pale green suit she was like springtime come alive. I started toward her, entirely forgetting to notice that she was not wearing a rose. As I moved, a small, provocative smile curved her lips. “Going my way, sailor?” she murmured. Almost uncontrollably I made one step closer to her, and then I saw Hollis Maynell. She was standing almost directly behind the girl. A women well past 40, she had graying hair tucked under a worn hat. She was more than plump, her thick-ankled feet thrust into low-heeled shoes. The girl in the green suit was walking quickly away. I felt as though I split in two, so keen was my desire to follow her, and yet so deep was my longing for the women whose spirit had truly companioned me and upheld my own.

And there she stood. Her pale, plump face was gentle and sensible, her gray eyes had a warm and kindly twinkle. I did not hesitate. My fingers gripped the small worn blue leather copy of the book that was something precious, something perhaps even better than love, a friendship for which I had been and must ever be grateful.

I squared my shoulders and saluted and held out the book to the women, even though while I spoke I felt choked by the bitterness of my disappointment. “I’m Lieutenant John Blanchard, and you must be Miss Maynell. I am so glad you could meet me; may I take you to dinner?”

The women’s face broadened into a tolerant smile. “I don’t know what this is about, son,” she answered, “but the young lady in the green suit who just went by, she begged me to wear this rose on my coat. And she said if you were to ask me out to dinner, I should go and tell you that she is waiting for you in the big restaurant across the street. She said it was some kind of test!”

It’s not difficult to understand and admire Miss Maynell’s wisdom. The true nature of a heart is seen in it’s response to the unattractive. “Tell me whom you love,” Houssaye wrote, “And I will tell you who you are.”

Love Needs No Reason

Lady: Why do you like me..? Why do you love me?
Man : I can’t tell the reason. But I really like you…
Lady : You can’t even tell me the reason… how can you say you like me? How can you say you love me?
Man : I really don’t know the reason, but I can prove that I love you.
Lady : Proof? No! I want you to tell me the reason. My friend’s boyfriend can tell her why he loves her but not you!
Man : Ok..ok!!! Erm… because you are beautiful,
because your voice is sweet,
because you are caring,
because you are loving,
because you are thoughtful,
because of your smile,
because of your every movement.
The lady felt very satisfied with the man’s answer.
********
Unfortunately, a few days later, the lady met with an accident and went into the coma stage.
The Guy then placed a letter by her side, and here is the content:
Darling,
Because of your sweet voice that I love you…Now can you talk? No! Therefore I cannot love you.
Because of your care and concern that I like you…Now that you cannot show them, therefore I cannot love you.
Because of your smile, because of your every movement that I love you…Now can you smile? Now can you move?
No, therefore, I cannot love you.
If love needs a reason, like now, there is no reason for me to love you anymore.
Does love need a reason? NO!
Therefore, I still love you…And love doesn’t need a reason
With love always,
Forever yours.

True Love

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 a.m., when an elderly gentleman in his 80’s, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone
would to able to see him. I saw him look at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had another doctor’s appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health . He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer’ s Disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised, and asked him, “And you still go every morning, even though she doesn’t know who you are?” He smiled as he patted my hand and said, “She doesn’t know me, but I still know who she is.”

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, “That is the kind of love I want in my life. “

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.

True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

Step-by-step Guide to Installing Love

Customer Service Rep: Can you install LOVE?
Customer: I can do that. I’m not very technical, but I think I am ready to install now. What do I do first?
Customer Service Rep: The first step is to open your HEART. Have you located your HEART ma’am?
Customer: Yes I have, but there are several programs running right now.Is it okay to install while they are running?
Customer Service Rep: What programs are running ma’am?
Customer: Let me see….I have PASTHURT.EXE, LOWESTEEM.EXE, GRUDGE.EXE, and RESENTMENT.COM running right now.
Customer Service Rep: No problem. LOVE will automatically erase PASTHURT.EXE from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it will no longer disrupt other programs. LOVE will eventually overwrite LOWESTEEM.EXE with a module of its own called HIGHESTEEM.EXE. However, you have to completely turn off GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM. Those programs prevent LOVE from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ma’am?
Customer: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?
Customer Service Rep: My pleasure. Go to your Start menu and invoke FORGIVENESS.EXE. Do this as many times as necessary until GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM have been completely erased.
Customer: Okay, I’m done. LOVE has started installing itself automatically. Is that normal?
Customer Service Rep: Yes it is. You should receive a message that says it will reinstall for the life of your HEART. Do you see that message?
Customer: Yes I do. Is it completely installed?
Customer Service Rep: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other HEARTS in order to get the upgrades.
Customer: Oops…I have an error message already. What should I do?
Customer Service Rep: What does the message say?
Customer: It says “ERROR 412 – PROGRAM NOT RUN ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS”. What does that mean?
Customer Service Rep: Don’t worry ma’am, that’s a common problem. It means that the LOVE program is set up to run on external HEARTS but has not yet been run on your HEART. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in non-technical terms it means you have to “LOVE” your own machine before It can “LOVE”others.
Customer: So what should I do?
Customer Service Rep: Can you find the directory called “SELF-ACCEPTANCE”?
Customer: Yes, I have it.
Customer Service Rep: Excellent, you are getting good at this.
Customer: Thank you.
Customer Service Rep: You’re welcome. Click on the following files and then copy them to the “MYHEART” directory: FORGIVESELF.DOC, SELFESTEEM.TXT, EALIZEWORTH.TXT, and GOODNESS.DOC. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching any faulty programming. Also, you need to delete SELFCRITIC.EXE from all directories, and then empty your recycle bin afterwards to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.
Customer: Got it. Hey! My HEART is filling up with really neat files. SMILE.MPG is playing on my monitor right now and it shows that WARMTH.COM, PEACE.EXE, and CONTENTMENT.COM are copying themselves all over my HEART!
Customer Service Rep: Then LOVE is installed and running. You should be able to handle it from here. One more thing before I go…
Customer: Yes?
Customer Service Rep: LOVE is freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everybody you meet. They will in turn share it with other people and they will return some really neat modules back to you.
Customer: I will. Thank you for your help.

Love is

Love is like a friendship caught on fire.
In the beginning a flame, very pretty,
Often hot and fierce,
But still only light and flickering.
As love grows older,
Our hearts mature
And our love becomes as coals,
Deep-burning and unquenchable.

Never say I love you

Never say I love you
If you really don’t care.

Never talk about feelings
If they aren’t really there.

Never hold my hand
If you are going to break my heart.

Never say you’re going to
If you don’t really plan to start.

Never look into my eyes
If all you do is lie.

Never say hello
If what you really mean is goodbye.

If you really mean forever
Then say you will try.

Never say forever
Cause forever makes me cry.

Love is

Love is a burning desire,

That makes your heart light on fire,

Love is being with you,

Someone saying I love you too,

Love is your tender kiss,

Something you don’t want to miss,

Love is you and me,

And that is all I see.

Never Cry for Anyone who Makes you Cry!

Once, there was this guy, who was in love with a gal. She wasn’t the most beautiful and gorgeous but for him, she was everything.

He used to dream about her, about spending the rest of life with her. His friends told him, “Why do you dream so much about her, when you don’t even know if she loves you or not? First tell her your feelings, and get to now if she likes you or not”. He felt that was the right way. The girl knew from the beginning, that this guy loves her.

One day when he proposed, she rejected him. His friends thought he would take to alcohol; drugs etc. and ruin his life. To their surprise, he was not depressed.

When they asked him how was it that he is not sad, he replied,”Why should I feel bad? I lost one who never loved me & she lost the one who really loved and cared for her!”

Innocent Love

Since a very long time ago, people have searched for the meaning of love. But even the great philosophers, with their profound definitions, could not fully touch its true essence. In a survey of 4-8 year olds, kids share their views on love. But what do little kids know about love?
Read on and be surprised that despite their young and innocent minds, kids already have a simple but deep grasp of that four-letter word.

Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smile to each other.

Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.

Love is when someone hurts you. And you get so mad but you don’t yell at him because you know it would hurt his feelings.

Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.

Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.

You can break love, but it won’t die.

Love is when mommy sees daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsome then Robert Redbird.

I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.

When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.”

LOVE ———— REALLY PAINFUL!

Once upon a time a bird fell in love with a white rose. One day she proposed to him but he refused. He said “I don’t love you” but…………… the bird came daily and proposed to him. One day the white rose said “When I’ll turn red I will love u”. One day the bird came and cut her wings and spread her blood on the rose and rose turned red. Then the rose realized how much the bird loved him but it was too late.. the bird was dead!

So respect the love and feelings of the person who loves you.
